The Lesson

When being strong becomes
a business problem

You know the role. The one who shows up even when she's depleted. The one everyone leans on because she never says no. That's the Strong One. And inside our businesses, she's quietly running the show ~ pricing from apology, posting to prove something, performing consistency instead of living it.

This episode teaches you how to turn one honest, present moment into a standard piece of content ~ specifically a b-roll video with text overlay ~ using tools you already have. Because the formula only works when you do. Better self. Better CEO. Better business.

The CEO Roots Formula
Better Self → Better CEO
Better CEO → Better Business
Better Business → Better Life
What You're Learning Today
How to shoot intentional b-roll, write text overlays that convert, and schedule content that consistently reaches your people... without ever burning out.

About This Challenge

Professor Bri's Canva Academy issued a 14-day challenge: post about your product every day for two weeks. CHALLENGES 1–2 were the mockup creation and listing. If you're behind you're not out. Jump in where you are. This episode gives you everything you need from today forward.

Every tool below is linked. These are the exact tools used to build this content workflow..... click through to get yours.

The Golden Workflow Rule
Film on Phone → Hard Drive → CapCut Desktop (edit + text + filter) → Export to Hard Drive → Instagram (caption in Notes first, then post or schedule). Always save to your physical drive before moving to the next step. You should never lose an original file. Name every export: content_(video topic)_(date)
CapCut Walkthrough

Teaching
Atmosphere Reels

What we have learned in this episode: Walking you through building an Atmosphere Reel in CapCut Desktop. An Atmosphere Reel is a short b-roll video with text overlays... no talking head, no voiceover. The visuals create the atmosphere. The text does the talking. That's the format.

Click each phase to expand. Italic lines in quotes = Teachings. Plain text = what's happening in the recording.

1Understanding B-Roll vs. A-RollWhat it is · Why it converts · What to film
Intro
Teaching
"Today's lesson is about the content format that actually stops the scroll and it's not the one where you're talking to the camera. It's b-roll. It's footage of your life, your work, your world, with text doing all the talking."
Ex: a talking-head clip talking directly into the camera to your audience vs. a slow b-roll clip with bold text.
Define
Teaching
"A-roll is you talking. B-roll is everything else ~ your hands working, your product on a surface, your morning ritual, your notebook, your workspace, a candle burning while you create. B-roll with text overlay lets the viewer project themselves into the visual. That's where conversion lives."
Ex: Product on a table, hands typing, coffee cup, natural light through a window. No talking head in any of them.
What to Film
Teaching
"You don't need a studio. You need a phone, natural light, and intentionality. Film what's real in your life and make it speak to where your person is right now."
Ex: B-roll ideas for wellness/creative CEOs:
· Your physical product on a desk or natural surface
· Hands writing in a journal or typing
· Morning ceremony tea, crystals, skincare, candle
· Your workspace set up for a session
· Walking outside, slow and intentional
· Your Stanley on your desk while you work
2Filming Your B-RollCamera settings · Movement · Lighting
Settings
Teaching
"Before you film anything set your phone to record in 4K if it supports it, and make sure you're filming vertical. 9 by 16. That's our canvas for Reels. Horizontal footage in a vertical world gets cropped awkwardly and looks amateur."
Steps: Go into your phone settings & change the video quality. Set it to 4K. Go to camera app and set orientation locked to vertical.
Movement
Teaching
"Film each shot for at least 10 seconds even if you only use 3. Give yourself editing room. Move slowly - a slow pan across your desk, a slow push toward your product. Slow movement reads as intentional and elevated. Fast movement reads as reactive."
Ex: Slow pan (slow movement towards focus), push-in, overhead top-down shot of product.
Light
Teaching
"Natural light is always your best collaborator. Face a window, don't have it behind you. If you're shooting at night, a ring light or a warm lamp positioned in front of you keeps the warmth in your footage. Dark and muddy footage undermines everything your text is trying to say."
Show: NO muddy backlit clip.
YES clean window-lit clip of the same product.
3Building Your Atmosphere Reel in CapCut DesktopNew Project · Import · Split Tools · Mute · Filter · Save
Open App
Teaching
"We're working in CapCut Desktop for this episode, not the mobile app. The desktop version gives you more precision: better timeline control, font favorites, filter settings, and a cleaner export panel. Download the link in the Tool Kit if you don't have it yet."
Steps: Open CapCut Desktop. On the home dashboard...
Click New Project.
Import
Teaching
"Once your project opens, drag the video you want to use into your project OR you'll see the media panel on the left. Click the import button and navigate to the folder on your hard drive where you saved your b-roll clips. Select the ones you want to use and they'll appear in your media panel. From there, drag the first clip down onto the main timeline."
Locate Clip
Teaching
"Now we need to find the part of the clip we actually want to use. Scrub through the timeline by clicking and dragging the playhead marker - that's the vertical white line. Watch the preview window on the right as you drag. You're looking for the moment where the footage is steady, well-lit, and doing something interesting."
A-Roll / B-Roll
Teaching Voiceover
"Quick reminder - as we covered in Phase 1 -  A-roll is you talking to camera. B-roll is everything else. For an Atmosphere Reel, your entire timeline should be b-roll only. If you accidentally imported a clip of yourself talking, set it aside. We're not using it here."
Split Tools
Teaching
"CapCut Desktop gives you three split options. Regular Split cuts the clip right where your playhead marker is sitting - that's your most used tool. Split Right removes everything to the right of the playhead. Split Left removes everything to the left. So if you want just the middle section of a clip, place your playhead at the start of the good part, hit Split Left to delete everything before it then move your playhead to where the good part ends, hit Split Right to delete everything after it. You're left with exactly what you want."
PRO TIP: Use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+B (or Cmd+B on Mac) for regular split.
Undo
Teaching
"If you split something and immediately regret it hit Ctrl+Z on Windows or Command+Z on Mac. That's your undo button. CapCut Desktop holds multiple undo steps, so don't be afraid to experiment. You can always go back."
Mute Clip
Teaching
"Your b-roll footage probably has background sound on it - ambient noise, your environment, whatever was happening when you filmed. We don't want that. Click your clip on the main track to select it, then look for the audio or volume section in the right panel. Lower the volume to zero, or click the mute icon if your version shows one. This silences the original audio without deleting the clip."
Steps: click clip → right panel shows volume/audio controls → drag volume slider to 0 or click mute. Waveform (track) on the clip should visually go flat.
9:16 Ratio
Teaching
"Before we go any further - check your canvas ratio. Look at the top of the timeline area or under the project settings. It should say 9:16. That's vertical, that's Reel size. If it says anything else - 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 - click it and change it to 9:16 now. Your footage will reframe in the preview window. Make sure your subject matter is still centered and visible."
Steps: Locate the ratio selector → showing 9:16 selected → preview window showing vertical crop. If it needs to be changed, change it to to 9:16 to reframe.
Video Filter
Teaching
"Now we're going to add a filter to set the mood of the entire video. Click on your clip in the timeline. In the top panel, look for the Effects or Filter tab. Browse the filter library  for Atmosphere Reels, you want something warm, cinematic, or slightly muted. Avoid anything too high-contrast or oversaturated. Once you apply a filter, it should appear as its own layer in your timeline."
Steps: click clip → Filter tab → preview several filter options in the preview window → apply chosen filter. Your filter will appear as a separate clip/layer in the timeline.
Filter Duration
Teaching
"Your filter layer has its own duration handles just like your clip. Click the filter track in the timeline and drag its right edge to extend it across the full length of your video. You want the filter covering every second. If it's shorter than your clip, part of your video won't have the filter applied and the mood shift will be jarring."
Steps: Filter layer in timeline → drag right handle to extend it → show it matching the full clip length. Preview the before/after in the preview window.
Save + Name
Teaching
"Before we move to text - save your project. In CapCut Desktop, your project auto-saves, but you want to be intentional about naming it. Look for the project name at the top of the screen - click it and rename it using this format: content, underscore, what the video is about, underscore, the date. So it might look like: content_strongone_042525. Six months from now you'll thank yourself."
Steps: Click project title at top → rename using the format content_(topic)_(date). Example shown on screen.
4Writing & Placing Text OverlaysAdd Text · Font · Favorites · Effects · Size · Center · Case · Shadow · Duration
The Formula
Teaching Voiceover
"Your text overlay does three things in sequence: it hooks them in the first second, it names the pain or the desire in the middle, and it tells them exactly what to do at the end. Three text moments. That's the Atmosphere Reel formula. We're building all three right now."
Option: Screen 1 = HOOK / Screen 2 = PAIN or DESIRE / Screen 3 = CTA.
Add Text
Teaching
"In CapCut Desktop, look at the left panel. Click Text. Then click Add Default Text. A text box will appear in your preview window and a new text track will appear in your timeline below your video clip. That text track is independent of your clip... you can move it, resize it, and set its own start and end points."
Steps: Text panel → Add Text → text box appears in preview → text track appears in timeline.
Change Font
Teaching
"With your text selected, look at the right panel - you'll see a font dropdown. Click it and browse. For Atmosphere Reels, you want something clean and bold - a sans-serif or a strong display font. Avoid anything decorative or script-y for the hook text. That's not legible at speed. Choose something that reads in under one second."
Steps: right panel → font dropdown → scroll through options → select a bold, clean font.
Font Favorites
Teaching
"Once you find a font you like - favorite it. Next to the font name there's a small star icon. Click it. Now that font lives in your Favorites tab so you're not hunting for it every single time you open a new project. This one small habit saves you twenty minutes across a 14-day challenge."
Steps: look for font name → star icon → click to favorite → switch to Favorites tab to confirm it's saved.
Text Effects
Teaching
"Now look for the Effects tab within the text panel - not the main Effects panel, the one specific to your text. Here you can add things like a background highlight behind your text, an outline, a glow. For Atmosphere Reels, less is more. One effect, applied intentionally, is better than three effects competing for attention."
Steps: highlight text to select → Effects tab in text panel → preview a highlight/outline effect → apply one.
Size the Frame
Teaching
"In the preview window, your text box has corner handles. Drag a corner handle to resize the text frame. Resize it so your text occupies a clear, readable zone on screen - not too small that people squint, not so large it covers the visual you worked to film. The text and the footage should breathe together."
Steps: drag corner handle in preview window → text resizes. Show too small, too large, then just right.
Center Text
Teaching
"To center your text on the 9:16 canvas, look for the alignment icons in the right panel - horizontal center and vertical center. Click both. Your text snaps to the exact center of the frame. You can also drag it manually to the lower third if that feels more natural with your footage - lower third means the bottom third of the screen."
Steps: alignment icons in right panel → click horizontal center → click vertical center → text snaps. Then show dragging to lower third.
Case Options
Teaching
"In the text formatting options you'll see case controls - Uppercase, Lowercase, and Title Case. Uppercase is bold and commanding - great for the hook. Title Case reads as intentional and polished - good for the body message. Lowercase can feel intimate and personal - strong for a CTA. Choose based on the energy of what the text is saying, not just aesthetics."
Add Shadow
Teaching
"The default text in CapCut has no shadow, which means if your b-roll footage is light-colored, your white text disappears into it. Always add a shadow to default text. Look for Shadow in the Style or Effects section of the text panel. A subtle dark shadow at low opacity creates just enough separation between your text and the footage behind it without looking heavy."
Steps: text panel → Style/Shadow section → enable shadow → adjust opacity to 20–35%. before (text blending into footage) and after (text clearly readable).
The Hook
Teaching
"Your hook has to be uncomfortable enough to stop someone mid-scroll. Not safe. Not generic. It should feel like you read their diary. Here's the test - if any other business in your industry could post the same first line, rewrite it."
Type your hook text into the text box. Use UPPERCASE for maximum impact on the first screen.
Examples of hooks that aren't safe "You've been the strong one for so long you forgot you're allowed to rest."
"Your pricing tells me everything about how you see yourself."
"She's consistent. You're exhausted. Same amount of hours."
Text 2 + 3
Teaching
"Click Add Text again for your second overlay. This one names either the pain they're living in, or the version of themselves they're reaching for. Then add a third text block for your CTA. Not 'link in bio' by itself - that's a direction, not an invitation. Give them one more reason to click before you point them anywhere."
Steps: add second text block → type body message → add third text block → type CTA. OR as we did in the video just add one (hook) to stretch through the entire video.
Pain or desire (Text 2) "Depleted energy. Clouded decisions. A business built on survival mode."
- OR -
"Imagine building from a place that's actually full."
CTA (Text 3) "Link in bio - your formula is waiting."
"This was written for you. Link in bio."
Text Duration
Teaching
"In the timeline, click your first text track. You'll see handles on both ends - just like your video clip. Drag the right handle to set when the text disappears. Each text overlay should be on screen long enough to read at a relaxed pace - aim for at least two to three seconds minimum. Then drag the left handle of your next text block to set when it appears. Stagger them so only one message is on screen at a time."
Steps: text track in timeline → drag right handle → drag left handle of second text to stagger.
5Export, Caption & Post or ScheduleExport Panel · Why Keep It Short · Trending Audio · Caption · Instagram
Export Panel
Teaching
"When your Atmosphere Reel is ready - click the Export button in the top right corner of CapCut Desktop. Resolution: 4k. Frame rate: 30fps. Click Export, save to your hard drive folder using the naming format: content, underscore, topic, underscore, date."
Steps: Export button → export panel → 4k → 30fps → Export → save to hard drive.
File name example: content_strongone_042525.mp4
Keep It Short
Teaching
"Here's the strategy behind Atmosphere Reels and why we keep them short - under 30 seconds, ideally 15 to 20. The Instagram algorithm rewards replays. When someone watches your video all the way through and it starts again automatically, that's a replay. Replays signal to the algorithm that the content is worth showing to more people. A 15-second video is easy to watch twice. A 90-second video is not. Short, intentional, and re-watchable - that's the formula."
Take Note: "Under 30 seconds = higher replay rate = wider reach."
Trending Audio
Teaching
"Pair your Atmosphere Reel with a trending audio track on Instagram - not in CapCut, but directly inside the Instagram app when you upload. Trending audio has its own built-in audience. People who follow that sound get your video in their feed even if they don't follow you yet. Go to your Instagram Reels tab, tap the audio icon, and look for sounds with the trending arrow - that little upward arrow next to the audio name."
Steps: Instagram audio selection screen → trending arrow icon highlighted. "Trending = upward arrow." Use Suno for YouTube, TikTok, or other platforms where copyright applies.
Claude Prompt
Teaching
"Before we get to posting - if you haven't already used the AI content prompt in the next section of this page, do that first. It'll build you a complete 14-day Atmosphere Reel content plan specific to your niche, your product, and your audience. Every day has a b-roll concept, a hook, a body message, and a CTA - already written. All you have to do is film, build, and post."
AI Content Prompt section below on this page.
Caption
Teaching
"Write your caption in your Notes app first - never directly in Instagram. If the app glitches while you're typing, you lose it. Your caption should open with the same energy as your hook text. It doesn't need to be long. It needs to be true."
Steps Notes app with caption structure. Template: Opening line → 1–2 sentences → CTA + code/link.
Post or Schedule
Teaching
"In Instagram - tap the plus icon in the top left, select Reel, select your exported video, select your trending audio, swipe up to edit, review your video and correct original track volume if you didn't mute it in CapCut, tap Next, paste your caption, add tags or collaborators if relevant, toggle on sharing to Story, Facebook, or Threads, go to More Options to turn on highest quality and schedule if needed, edit your cover, link to your Reel series if you have one, keep the app open until it posts, then check your main feed to confirm it went through. And then  give yourself grace. You showed up. That is the receipt."
Full Instagram posting flow: + top left → Reel → select video → select trending audio → swipe up → review → Next → caption → tags → cross-post toggles → More Options → cover → post or schedule → confirm in feed.

Your 14-day plan, built for you

Copy this prompt and paste it into your AI (Claude is recommended - claude.ai). The AI will ask you targeted questions first, then build you a complete 14-day b-roll + text overlay content plan that speaks directly to your market, hits their real pain point, and drives conversion.

Don't skip the questions. The quality of your plan depends entirely on the clarity you provide.

Copy + Paste into Claude (or your AI of choice)
The AI will ask you questions before building anything
You are a strategic content architect who specializes in short-form video that converts browsers into committed buyers. Your job is to build me a 14-day b-roll + text overlay content plan tailored specifically to my business, my audience, and my offer. Before you build anything, ask me the following questions ONE AT A TIME. Wait for my full answer before moving to the next question. Do not group them together. Take my answers seriously — these determine everything. Question 1: What is your product or offer? Describe what it actually does — not what it is, but what changes in someone's life because of it. Question 2: Who is your ideal client — not age and location, but who is she at 2am when she can't sleep? What is she thinking about? What is she afraid of? What does she secretly want? Question 3: What is the #1 pain point your product addresses that she has never heard named out loud before — the thing she feels but has no language for yet? Question 4: What is the transformation your product creates? Where is she before, and where is she after? Question 5: What does she want to be seen as — by herself, and by others — after she's worked with your product or used what you've made? Question 6: What platform are you posting on, and how consistently have you been showing up there? Be honest. Question 7: What has your content looked like so far — and what do you think isn't landing the way you hoped? Question 8: What are 3 words that describe how you want someone to feel when they watch your content? Question 9: Do you have a product launch, an event, a deadline, or a promo code active in the next 30 days? Question 10: What is the one action you want someone to take at the end of every piece of content — the CTA that drives your business forward right now? Once I have answered all 10 questions, build my complete 14-day content plan in this exact format for each day: Day [X] — [Thematic Title] • B-Roll Concept: (what to film, where, how to move the camera) • Hook Text (Screen 1): (the first words on screen — not safe, not generic — must stop the scroll) • Core Message Text (Screen 2): (names the pain OR the transformation) • CTA Text (Screen 3): (clear, specific, inviting — not just "link in bio") • Pain Point Addressed: (one sentence) • Conversion Goal for This Day: (awareness / consideration / purchase / retention) • Caption Starter Line: (opens with the same energy as the hook) • Best Time to Post: (based on my platform and audience) The hooks must be uncomfortable enough to stop mid-scroll. If any business in my industry could post the same hook, rewrite it. The plan should build across the 14 days — it should feel like a journey, not 14 separate posts. Begin with Question 1 now.
